I’m aware that these tools exist for monitoring kids, but yeah anyone can use them to monitor anyone:
“In the report, titled The Predator in Your Pocket, researchers at The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy examined eight popular spyware apps sold as tools to keep track of children or employees. It found that many apps are also openly marketed as a good way to monitor intimate partners.”
If a company I worked for felt the need to track me that closely, I’d probably just not work there much longer.
In the case of domestic violence or stalking though, I’d fall back on my previous advice, leave any devices they had access to behind. Period.
And shame on any company who openly marketed their app that way. That’s just sleazy.
